Abstract

The purpose of the study is to assess the role of the initial density of forest stands on indicators of growth and productivity based on long-term observation data. Analysis of long-term data on the study of the growth of pine plantations of different initial planting densities showed that the initial planting density initially sets the individual history of the interaction of trees and the formation of the stand. In denser stands, crown closure and the formation of a forest canopy occur earlier. In them, at an earlier age, the volume stock reaches its maximum. The main difficulty in growing forest plantations is the need to take into account biological sustainability.
