Abstract

The Mg-doped and undoped, Fe near-stoichiometric LiNbO 3 crystals were grown from the Li-rich melt by Czochralski technique. The UV-Vis absorption spectra and infrared transmittance spectra were measured to study the structure and defects of the crystals. The photo-damage resistance ability of the crystals was characterized by observing transmission facula distortion directly. The photo-damage resistance ability of Mg (3.0 mol%):Fe (0.01 wt.%):SLN is higher than that of Fe (0.01 wt.%):SLN and Fe (0.01 wt.%):CLN. This difference is attributed to the photoconductivity increase.
