Abstract
A short account is given of a grouting operation carried out to stabilise a 700 ft-deep mine in Alabama. Mining was completed in the early 1970s, and some years later considerable surface problems were experienced with extensive fissuring. The deep grouting operation encountered water problems from four aquifers, and ways in which those were overcome are explained.
