Abstract

Powered platform vehicles and powered modular vehicle groups are fundamental tools to transport huge-size heavy-duty parts and equipments. In order to keep uniform loading and avoid wheels overloaded or hung, the hydraulic suspension system is decomposed into groups that the cylinders of one group are connected and equivalent to one support and therefore a multi-point support mode is formed for loading platform.A multi-point supporting force model is built in order to find out the allowable loading area of a powered modular vehicle group on a complicated terrain, and the equivalent supporting point of each group applied on loading platform is determined by force equivalent principle. The statically indeterminate problem introduced by multi-point support is solved based on the elastic support's deformation harmonization principle. The loading area is achieved by intersection of anti-capsizing area derived from the supporting boundary formed by supporting points and securing area generated by loading limit of each group.Based on allowable loading area modeling, the criterion is set up to determine grouping pattern.Case study illustrates the presented idea.
