Abstract
The authors' experience in establishing a long-term, slow-open, group-analytic group in primary care is described. In all twenty-two clients were offered a place in this group over a period of three years. The commonest presenting problems were depression, with or without anxiety, and relationship difficulties. The advantages and disadvantages of conducting a group in this setting are explored. It is proposed that this is one way in which local specialist services can support the provision of long-term psychotherapy in primary care
