Abstract
Hollow-core hexagonal photonic crystal (PhC) fiber for terahertz (THz) frequencies is realized. THz pulse propagation and transmission characteristics of the proposed PhC fiber are studied through full-wave electromagnetic computations. Including the out of plane-radiation losses, the proposed fiber exhibits transmission of more than 97.7% for transverse electric (TE) polarization at 0.210 THz for hexapole-like mode. The pulse propagation suggests the group velocity dispersion in the PhC fiber. The present work finds applications in the development of THz communication systems.
