Abstract

Abstract In this article, the author discusses the history of group therapy and Gestalt therapy, drawing on his experiences of working as a client/trainee in Gestalt groups with Fritz Perls. The theme of universality and the appreciation of simple existence are approached in the context of Gestalt groups. The intersection of the arts and Gestalt therapy is also examined. Also studied are the experiences of cosmic embeddedness and of microcosm. Gestalt groups are viewed as a form of populist therapy.
