Abstract

Either one or both (except when M′ = Cu) of the M(PPh 3) (M = Cu, Ag or Au) moieties in the heteronuclear metal cluster compounds [M 2Ru 4(μ 3-H) 2(CO) 12(PPh 3) 2] can be replaced by similar units, containing a different Group Ib metal M′, by treating dichloromethane solutions of the clusters with the appropriate amounts of the complexes [M′X(PPh 3)] (M′ = Cu or Au, X = Cl; M′ = Ag, X = I), in the presence of TIPF 6; the new clusters are obtained in ca. 70–80% yield.
