Abstract
Electronic absorption and fluorescence emission spectra of four new UV exalite laser dyes (E389, E392A, E398 and E428) were recorded at room temperature in several solvents of varying polarities. Ground and excited state dipole moments were evaluated by means of solvatochromic shift method and also the excited state dipole moments are determined in combination with ground state dipole moments. It is observed that the excited state dipole moments are significantly higher than their ground state counter part.
