Abstract

In the era of the Internet, children are exposed to many new perils, child grooming being one of them. In Poland, grooming has been penalized in the Criminal Code under Article 200a as late as in 2009. Thanks to the statistics of the National Police Headquarters, the number of proceedings initiated and crimes identified can be observed to be on the rise. Child grooming is a very important issue because many children can be prevented from becoming victims by understanding the mechanisms of action of potential child grooming perpetrators. The aim of this paper is to present the concept, the profile of a perpetrator and the statutory elements of this crime.
