Abstract

Vinted is a marketplace which allows its users to buy and sell certain items from and to other people. The online second-hand platform has been operating in Poland since as early as 2013. Being able to conclude online transactions through a popular platform, accounting for the nature of those transactions, provides, despite many advantages, an opportunity for many abuses. There are more and more reports of fraud on the part of Vinted users, both buyers and sellers. What is also surprising, is the creativity and evolution of the methods which the users of this platform follow to commit criminal offences. The criminal activity of Vinted users is a novelty among crimes against property, which means that this subject-matter is yet to be explored at all in criminal legal literature.
