Abstract

Abstract A predictor-corrector grid solver using hyperbolic equations is developed to generate grid distributions for once-through-type internal flow regions. The grid solver is a modified version of the hyperbolic grid generation method of Tai, Yih, and Soong, which eliminates the grid oscillation and the excess grid clustering around sharp corners. Two grid systems are first marched from a pair of opposite boundaries and then combined to give the required grid distribution for internal flow problems. The resulting grid systems preserve grid orthogonality near the solid boundaries and preserve the smooth grid distribution in the interior region. Several examples have verified the fast and efficient nature of the proposed method.
