Abstract
Abstract Mixed varieties of hybrid tea roses, .5 to 1.0 m tall were used for insecticide evaluation. These roses had been established for two years in a sandy loam soil mulched with coco bean husk. Pretreatment aphid populations were assessed (June 3) by counting the number of aphids on two terminal leaflets per plant. Treatments (4 plants per block) were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Each block was separated by 2 m of turf and each plant was shielded during spraying. Each plant was sprayed with a compression sprayer until run off on June 3. Aphid counts were made on June 10 and 17. The average day temperature was 32 to 34C. Rain occurred twice, June 6 (4mm) and June 12 (11mm).
