Abstract
Information and communication technology (ICT) will pave its next milestone in the Internet of Things (IoT). In this ICT infrastructure, the IoT acts as the critical factor for emerging approaches in the development of the structure, since the IoT has a massive potential towards environmental sustainability. For optimizing energy efficiency and reducing environmental effects, the IoT is related to big data analytics. This is mostly related to the active consumption of natural resources and the facilities and infrastructure of the intelligent management system, which results in improved delivery of different types of services related to the environment. For sustainable development, the IoT associated with big data analytics will perform some essential functions such as catalyzing and improving the processes of the environmental system. The IoT is highly capable of interconnecting large-scale enterprises with small-scale industries and a wide area of technology, such as telecommunications and computer science. When cast into the currently available technology, this will provide a considerable improvement and advancements in all aspects. Billions of devices are connected together in the enormous web to form devices of various scales, resulting in the IoT. This recent technology improvement acts as a base for the unstoppable growth in the field of IoT, which also increases energy demand. Smart farming plays a significant role in addressing inadequate irrigation, which uses unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in farm fields, identifying salt and nutrients in the field. Thus, this green IoT will consume much less power, so it is known as the low power consumption version of IoT. Green IoT technology and green IoT applications are discussed to provide an overview of the different methods and strategies adopted to perform various environmentally friendly functions.
