Abstract
The exponential demand for IT devices by the multifarious industries and the mushrooming growth of IT industry has led to various imbalances at the ecology and environmental level. A significant rise in the electronic wastages and absence of proper recycling treatment also threatens the present IT scenario. Looking at this pervasive utility of information and communication technology in all the productive spheres of economy, there exists a pressing need for a regulatory body to streamline the institutional investment behaviour on IT spending. Secondly, to combat such hazards green computing and greed computing go hand in hand. Much emphasis has been given on developing eco-friendly specifications of various IT products. The paper highlights the importance of model practises for organisations and knowledge management through green communication and computing. The authors also recognise the importance of sustainable development through green communication and computing practises. The current discussion also focuses on initiatives like solar computing and energy efficient computing.
