Abstract

AbstractThe Greek War of Independence was waged mainly on the southern tip of the Balkan Peninsula between 1821 and 1829, and ended with the establishment of the independent state of Greece in 1830. It was the first successful war of national liberation in the Ottoman Empire and had a significant impact on the development of nationalist movements in the Near East.
