Abstract

Power transformer is a pivotal high voltage electrical apparatus of power system network. It is robust, bulky and one of the costliest equipment’s among all other connected network elements. Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is one of the most popular proven methods to detect internal faults of power transformer. This research article incorporates ratio based DGA method using fuzzy logic as well as Duval Triangle based DGA method to analyse the internal faults of power transformers. Comparison of two distinct methods of DGA analysis for prevention of catastrophic failure is presented. The industry based standard data set are used for analysis and validation.
