Abstract

Based on the DFT approximation, this work investigates the effect of biaxial strain on the properties of graphene-silicene (SiC) hybrid sheet. It is shown that unlike graphene, SiC exhibits piezoelectric and semiconductor behaviors that makes it a very promising candidate for electronic devices. Mechanically, SiC has a huge value of Young's modulus, a large elastic region and a hyperelastic softening character. Such intrinsic behaviors are highly desirable in the automotive and the aviation industry.
