Abstract

The coarsening of grains in simple systems without topological constraints has been studied both by means of mean field theory and deterministic computer simulations. The differences have been identified as grain size correlation effects and a modification of the mean field theory to incorporate this effect has been proposed. This correlation mean field model agrees perfectly with the results from the deterministic simulations.
