Abstract
The paper presents an additional method of correction pulse signal characteristics in ground penetrating radar (GPR) data processing. Improving the methods of GPR signal processing is the important problem connected to the possibilities of non-destructive testing of localized as well as extended objects like motor roads. The relevance of such task is associated with the need to optimize maintenance and repair activities in conditions of limited funding. The proposed correction increases the reliability of processing and accuracy of restoring the properties of probed objects in the process of solving thickness measurement problems. The proposed method additionally is based on the use of combined correction of the original real pulse signal in order to remove signals which re-reflected from the metal sheet and other close items during the calibration process. Thus, the shape of the sounding pulse becomes as close as possible to the shape of the ideal probing signal, which ultimately contributes to an increase in the quality and accuracy of GPR data processing.
