Abstract

Areas of the UK that struggle to fill GP training places also struggle to garner interest in local GP jobs, data on jobs advertised with BMJ Careers show. Figures published earlier this month by the General Practice National Recruitment Office showed that only 72% of GP training posts across the UK were filled after the first round of recruitment.1 The data showed that there was also wide regional variation in the extent to which local training programme directors were able to attract trainees to GP training posts. This pattern is mirrored in figures gathered by BMJ Careers.
