Gonad maturity stage using morphological analysis of the endemic pirik fish ( Lagusia micracanthus Bleeker, 1860) from Pattunuang rivers, South Sulawesi

Abstract

Pirik fish ( Lagusia micracanthus ) is an endemic freshwater fish in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. This research aimed to study stage of gonad maturity in the morphology. This study was conductued in September 2014 to February 2015 at Pattunuang rivers, Samangki village, Maros Regency. Sample analysis was conductued at the Fisheries Biology Laboratory, Departement of Fisheries, Hasanuddin University, Makassar. The result were, the stage of gonad maturity is composed of five stages, namely Stage I (immature), Stage II (maturing), Stage III (mature), Stage IV (fully mature) and Stage V (resting).
