Abstract
Parts of this article dealing with HudBay have been superceded by Access to Justice and Corporate Accountability: A Legal Case Study of HudBay Minerals in (2013) http://ssrn.com/abstract=2358981 Serious human rights abuses and environmental issues are associated with some Canadian mines in Latin America. This article updates two previous articles on Canadian mining in Guatemala. It describes the results of two attempts to raise the human rights issues in Canadian courts. This article should be read in conjunction with Breaching Indigenous Law (2007) and Goldcorp and Hudbay in Guatemala (2010).
