Abstract

Since the preparation of my article on this instrument, I have received a wireless report from Godhavn. Dr. Olsen states that from October 20, 1926, the new vertical‐intensity magnetometer has been in regular use. From October 20 to November 19 determinations have been made with the magnetometer on nine days at temperatures between +4°.2 and −10° Centigrade; on each day 6 readings were taken. Supposing the base‐line value of Z‐magnetograph constant during the 31 days, the means of the 6 readings taken each day show a mean departure from the (supposed) constant base‐value of 2.5γ (corresponding to a mean error of about ±0.8γ of the base‐line value for the 31 days).
