Abstract

The article aims to investigate how the media addresses inequalities and gender relations in the sports universe, focusing on the discussion about the athletes' uniforms that took place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The theoretical framework dialogues with gender and feminism studies, through authors such as Butler and Aldeman. The methodology used is the constructionist discourse analysis in three news portals (UOL, G1 and R7). As a result, the analyzed reports denounce sexist rules and double standards about female athletes in many sports compared to their male counterparts.
