Abstract

Summary Bean leaves assimilating 14CO2 and fed with α-HPMS or INH solution were the experimental material. The effect of O2 concentration on 14C incorporation into glycolate, glyoxylate, glycine and serine was studied. It was shown that at normal CO2 concentration increase of O2 concentration from 2 to 21 per cent resulted in increased flow of assimilated carbon through the glycolic acid pathway. However, at 100 per cent O2 concentration the strongly inhibited photosynthesis was also related to a marked decrease in the glycolic acid metabolism in leaves.
