Abstract
We report a bi-molecular combination nanomedicine consisting of IR820 dye and chemotherapeutic drug lapatinib stabilized with the polyelectrolyte, glycol chitosan. The synthesized nanoformulation revealed superior photothermal transduction efficiency due to strong NIR (Near Infrared) absorbance of IR820. The in-vitro studies showed the time-dependent increase in cellular uptake of nanoparticles with significant photothermal chemotherapeutic toxicity against cancer cells. Moreover, acute toxicity assessment in Balb/c mice showed no systemic dysfunction of vital organs post intravenous injection of IR/LNPs.
