Abstract

The synthesis of purines in Aerobacter aerogenes was studied by the use of labeled glycine [CH 2(N 15H 2)C 13OOH]. Adenine and guanine were isolated from the lyophilized cell material. The isotopes were found in the bases. Evidence for the incorporation of the whole glycine molecule is presented.
