Abstract
Cross section formulas for muon pair production in hadron-hadron collisions arising from quark + antiquark → off-shell photon + gluon and gluon + quark → off-shell photon + quark subprocesses are derived in the parton model. Predictions based on QCD agree rather well with the observed transverse momentum distribution of the pair.
