Abstract
A surface-wave model is presented for interpreting the large-angle peak in elastic π+p differential cross-section at momenta up to 70 GeV/c. One fits the angular distributions at various momenta. Furthermore, the fit parameters so found are in turn fitted by means of theoretical functions which reproduce their behaviour at varying momentum. In particular the model is able to reproduce quantitatively the behaviour, at varying momentum, of the «slope» of the backward differential cross-section.
