Abstract

The downward longwave sky radiation measured during the period August 1982 to July 1983 is reported. Hourly averages for the longwave sky radiation, the effective sky temperature and the effective sky emissivity are presented for each month of the period. The sky radiant flux ranged from about 200 to 325 watts per square metre and the effective sky emissivity from about 0.6 to 0.9. The monthly average for the effective sky temperature had a 245 to 275°K range and tended to have an annual variation. The depression of sky temperature below ambient temperature ranged from near zero to about 35°.
