Abstract

This article addresses the rise of Internet Governance as an issue of international dimension, from the perspective of a developing country (Brazil). It presents the creation of the global regime of Internet Governance as a result of the consolidation of the U.S hegemony in the post-Cold War period. It analyzes the challenges and opportunities for governments to participate in the regime and explains how Critical Internet Resources became part of the Brazilian foreign policy agenda. It also considers latest developments in the evolution of the Internet Governance regime and its perspectives from a governmental standpoint.
