Abstract
Citizenship is the key issue of national civic education. The traditional citizen education is challenged in the era of globalization, showing the dual identity of national citizenship and global citizenship. Facing this new challenge, the universities around the world have made the global citizenship education as the commission of the twenty-first century. They intended to cultivate the students with global consciousness, international perspective, and action ability through different modes of education practice. Because the liberal education and global citizenship education have many in common, many universities cultivate the global citizen by the way of liberal education, and the Chinese universities are also included.
