Abstract
As the magnetic recording density is higher, the requirement for the surface characteristics of the magnetic disk substrate grow severer. Unfortunately, Al substrate is not sufficient to all requirement now. Then, we developed new substrate which both sides of alumina were coated by glass. This new substrate has high durability (Bending Strength:400MPa, Fracture Toughness:4MPa/m0.5) , a facility of machining and high heat resistance(600 °C). Above mentioned, as the characteristics of the substrate was made clear, we reported here. Furthermore, we have done CSS test used by GGA substrate. As the reasult, GGA substrate had css durability of 40,000 times.
