Abstract

The new camerate crinoid (Actinocrinitidae) genus Glaphyrocrinus is described from Early Carboniferous rocks of the New England Belt, New South Wales. The genus is represented by two species, Glaphyrocrinus expansus sp. nov. and Glaphyrocrinus minutus sp. nov. Although Glaphyrocrinus has many characters typical of primitive Eumorphocrinus, previously described from the same sequence, the new genus with its pentalobate calyx and protuberant arm bases represents a more advanced actinocrinitid.
