Abstract

FM mode locking of an LiNdP <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">4</inf> O <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">12</inf> (LNP) laser with an intracavity modulator is reported. Mode-locked optical pulses with a pulse width of 49 ps at a repetition rate of 960 MHz, corresponding to <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">c/2L</tex> ( <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">c</tex> :light velocity, <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">L</tex> :cavity length), have been obtained. A pulse repetition rate as high as 2.88 GHz has been achieved with a multiple mode-locking technique.
