Abstract

Case reportA 50-year-old man presented with a giant and invasive mass at the nasal limbus in his right eye. A surgical excision without safety margins was promptly performed, followed by interferon alpha-2b (IFNα2b) eye drops. After monitoring the patient for two years and after performing a number of biopsies, he remains free from any signs of disease. DiscussionFor cases of giant and invasive squamous cell carcinoma, to reverse the order of treatment, by first performing an early tumor excision, followed by the application of topical IFNα2b, may prove useful to achieve total remission of the tumor.
