Abstract

This study identified the influence of leadership style on satisfaction of subordinates. And also, the influence of the leadership styles in the performance of team members, in the leader communication with subordinates and other secondary objectives. This research builds upon appropriate instruments of MLQ (Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire®) by Bass and Avolio (1995), Job Satisfaction by Siqueira (1995), Performance by Reis Neto et al (2012), Issues related to the Flow of Communication by Reis Neto (2014). A sample of 200 employees, constituted according to convenience and accessibility, were subjects of the research. The data was processed and analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling by the PLS approach (Partial Least Squared), using plspm function plspm (Partial Least Squares Path Modeling) package R software (version 3.0.3). A good adjustment of the hypothetical model was obtained, all objectives have been met and five of the eleven hypotheses were supported. The result of this research showed that among the leadership styles, the Transformational had the highest average, followed by the Transactional, indicating that these are the styles adopted by most leaders of the organization. The Transformational style has been identified as able to exercise significant and positive influence on satisfaction of the team, as well as on communication. The Transactional style had a significant and positive influence on performance, and that has proved influential in the levels of satisfaction, that is, the higher the performance, the greater the satisfaction will be. Finally, a significant and positive influence of communication on satisfaction was detected.
