Abstract

General Klaus. Naumann here discusses German. Security policy and the future tasks of the Bundeswehr, beginning with a brief description of the dramatically altered global situation. He pro‐vides an assessment of the current security situation, drawing out the consequences for German military and security policy, and an outline of the security interests of the Federal Republic of Germany. He condudes with ‐ a few remarks on the challenges facing the armed forces after this period of remarkable aliteration. During recent changed they have had to cope simultaneously with reduction by 40 per cent the dissolution of the Nationale Volk‐sarmee of the former East Germany and, finally, have also had to adjustto the new dimension’ of Peace Support Operations.
