Abstract

The history of the national underground movement in the Białystok region is very complicated. From 1942 to 1945 the organization was split into two factions, and even in the face of the Soviet threat internal disputes continued. The main assumption of the article is to show the genesis of the creation of the „Bałtyk” District of the National Military Union. This includes a presentation of the fate of the national organizations in the area during the German occupation and an analysis of the potential presented by the nationalists.
