Abstract

The genesis of social entrepreneurship is actively discussed in the global community as a socio-economic category, the concept of which has evolved from theoretical concepts into global practice. The research shows that social entrepreneurship, gaining popularity of its humanistic direction, determines alternative routes of state welfare provision of the country’s population. The evolution of the essential features of the definition "social entrepreneurship" points to ensuring: 1) implementation of the social mission of an innovative "firm" striving towards sustainable self-sufficiency; 2) responsibility of economic subjects (self-employment, small and medium entrepreneurship), through which problems in the social sphere of society are solved.
