Abstract
Numerical modeling methods were used to investigate the radiation emitted by a plasma generated by high-power femtosecond laser pulses on the surface of a solid-state target. The results demonstrated that strong transfer of heat to the target should generate subpicosecond x-ray radiation. Calculations are reported of the time, spectral, and energy characteristics of such x-ray pulses.
