Generation of cursive characters using minimum jerk model

Abstract

We consider a problem of designing cursive characters and character strings. Based on the concept of 'dynamic font', we propose a new redesigning scheme to translate the typeface of predesigned Japanese characters to the omitted running style. In particular, a smoothing operation is introduced by employing a minimum hand jerk model as the generation mechanism. The design examples are included.
