Abstract
Recently, Multilevel Inverters (MLIs) are developed for integrating the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) to the utility grid. Due to the dominance of MLIs over conventional inverters with respect to high power capability, less harmonics, greater levels in the output voltage and efficiency, research has been focused on development of new MLI topology. This paper presents the new generalized topology for MLI structure named as Reduced Switch Single Source (RSSS) MLI. Proposed RSSS MLI requires less number of switches and voltage source compared with some recently developed MLI topologies. For the elimination of harmonic contents from output voltage and current, Selective Harmonic Elimination (SHE) with Newton Raphson (NR) technique is used. This elimination of harmonics is done on seven and eleven level RSSS MLI and results have been discussed. The developed RSSS MLI is verified and validated through several MATLAB simulation.
