Abstract

Abstract We generalize the Lax pair and Backlund transformations for the Liouville and N =1 super-Liouville equations to the case of arbitrary world sheet background geometry. We use the fact that the Liouville equation expresses a constant curvature condition, which in turn is equivalent to flatness of an SL(2, R ) or OSp(1, 1) connection.
