Abstract
The static Böttcher relation, deduced from a physical electrostatic cavity model, is generalized for time-dependent fields. Its application is tested with the complex permittivity data for toluene, di-n-butylether, chlorobenzene, acetonitrile and water. Comparison and discussion have been made with the classical Cale-Cole representation.
