Abstract

In this paper, the problem of determining the shape of plasmonic nano particle for maximum absorption coefficient in the visible part of light spectrum is considered. In order to determine a general optimal shape, a new linearization solution method in spherical coordinates is presented. Indeed, by using this approach which is based on an embedding process, the solution is determined via an appropriate finite linear programming problem by an iterative method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. This approach in comparison to the other methods has some advantages: the optimization is global and does not need any initial shape and mesh designing. This approach can be useful also in optical applications such as plasmonic nano antenna, plasmonic solar cell and plasmonic sensor. The numerical simulation results also show the efficiency of the proposed method especially in comparison.
