Abstract

Brazil has one of the world’s largest series of basins along its continental margin, and past exploratory activity resulted in a very large data set along diverse segments of the whole margin. The main objective of this article is to review the general tectonostratigraphic evolution of the Eastern Brazilian Margin and discuss the main phases and their structural styles and depositional megasequences, including the prerift, synrift, transitional, and postrift phase strata.
