Abstract
This chapter presents various tests that are related to the general abilities assessment, such as British ability scales (BAS), British picture vocabulary scale, cognitive abilities test (CAT), culture fair intelligence tests, and Deeside picture test. The BAS provides a flexible test resource for test users. Having a large number of scales to choose from, users might also select short-form tests within many of the scales, which reduces the amount of time required for test administration. Obtaining ability estimates for each scale, a wide range of measurement facilities are offered, enabling users to: compare discrepancies in scores between scales; estimate predicted scores; calculate various IQ estimates; identify unusual response patterns to the items in a scale; and measure change or growth in abilities over time. The CAT assesses three areas of ability. The verbal battery has four subtests: vocabulary, sentence completion, verbal classification, and verbal analogies. The quantitative battery has three subtests: quantitative relations, number series, and equation building. The non-verbal battery has three subtests: figure classification, figure analysis, and figure synthesis.
