Abstract

The Sahariya tribe of the Bundelkhand region is considered one of the most backward, side-lined, and vulnerable tribes in the country. The present paper investigates the gender role of Sahariya women in terms of their participation in the decision-making process and simultaneously elaborates their socio-economic and socio-cultural status. The major findings state that Sahariya women are relatively more active in the community than their male counterparts. Despite sharing the dual burden, the study revealed that the autonomy and decision-making power was confined to minor household issues only.
